Honda Prelude Automatic Transmissions
As we go further into the study on the Honda Prelude we will not that there are 2 different types of transmissions for this car. The first is an automatic and the other being the manual. These are two different pieces of equipment. One consists of automatically shifting the gears for you. While the other transmission is shifted manually.
Looking at the automatic transmission you will notice that they have the shifter on the steering wheel, or on the center console. These cars feature shifting with the push of a button and a pull. The gears allowed on the drive are as follows.
With these gears you can shift your automatic transmissions quickly and easily. Like all transmissions out there the automatic comes with a clutch and flywheel. The clutch and flywheel allow the transmission to automatically shift itself according to the computers readings.
The computer on the automatic transmissions reads a few things. It reads speed, RPM's, engine load, throttle position. Depending on how you drive your automatic transmissions will be the factor of how the computer shifts gears for you.
Transmissions vary according to the gear ratio. In automatic transmissions there are 4 gears plus the reverse gear. The gears of transmissions dictate how fast you can go. The longer the gear is, the slower you accelerate, but the higher the MPH goes. The shorter the gear, the faster you can accelerate but the lower the MPH.
The gears of automatic transmissions will give you the same speed at any given RPM. At 5 thousand RPM's your speed in 1 st gear will be 19 MPH. At 2nd gear it will be 46mph, 3rd gear will be 56 mph, etc.
Your transmission is how you get power to the wheels.
