Honda Prelude Engine Parts Functions

Honda Prelude Engine Parts Functions

The Honda Prelude has a lot of different engine parts.  All the internal pieces of the motor are what makes all the power.  Different motors have different power outputs.  Thats why you will see one H22 that is supposed to make 217 horse power and another H22 that makes 190 horse power.

  • Engine Parts Make the Power
  • Some parts are different than others
  • An engine contains camshafts and a crank

Engine parts are what makes up the power of the motor.  An H23 engine is a DOHC engine.  While its parts are different than the H22, it makes about 160 horse power.  The H22 is also a DOHC.  But its parts make 200 horse power.  The H22 engine feature Vtec.  Vtec is part of the engine's camshaft.
An engine contains different parts.  The parts that make up the most power are the crankshaft located inside the engine.  This crankshaft connects to 4 different parts.  These parts are call piston arms, or rods.  These rods are connected to the pistons located in the engine.  These pistons go up and down inside the sleeved parts of the engine.  The Sleeves are inside the engine block.  The engine block is under your hood.

All these parts work together to make a whole engine function.  You can take one part and leave the other expecting it to work.  All Honda's contain 4 cylinder engines unless you have an S2000 that has a 6 cylinder.  Honda's are infamous for having 4 cylinder engines.

All different types of motors do different things.  Most things make power.  Some engines are made to be more efficient rather than being powerful.
When you go to buy after market motor parts, you have to ask yourself which part will be good for you Prelude.  Start small and work big.  Everyone has to start from somewhere.
