After Market H22 Throttle Body
The H22 engine is a unique engine. It was first introduced in the 1992 Honda Prelude in Japan. By adding in an after market throttle body you can increase the engine production. Adding an after market throttle body to your car is a good idea. Not only does it increase horsepower and torque, but it also smoothes the air flow out.
An after market throttle body can come in a bunch of different variations. But they all have the same idea. They increase the size of the inlet on the throttle body. This lets more air into the intake manifold and can create more power. The whole idea behind increasing the throttle body size is to get more air flow into intake manifold. An OEM throttle body is more constrictive and holds back a stock engines true power.
After market throttle bodies work best with other upgraded equipment. Like a free flowing air intake, or an after market intake manifold. These things together work in sync to create a better flowing engine. By increasing the size of the throttle body you also have a better engine responsiveness. The larger butterfly plate in the throttle body becomes more sensitive to touching the as pedal. When you touch the gas pedal, the pedal pulls on a cable. The cable is connected to the butterfly plate located inside the throttle body. This is what lets the air into the engine. The more you press on the pedal the wider the plate opens. A larger butterfly plate inside the throttle body lets more air into the engine.
This creates better engine response time. Some after market throttle body makers claim that their throttle bodies have given as much as 50 HP gain on turbo cars and up to 10 more HP on N/A applications. The use of a bigger throttle body is something to be seriously considered. Especially if you are running an H22 Honda Engine.
